Description
Sedation of High-Risk Patients (Satisfies TSBDE RULE §110.16)
This hybrid continuing educational program consists of both online (8hrs) and class room didactics along with a strong hands on clinical component (8hrs). Enrollees will manage and complete 10 cases utilizing high-fidelity patient simulation with the use of computerized manikins via either moderate enteral or pareneterla routes. All of the cases will be performed and documented under the on-site instruction and direct supervision of a licensed dentist anesthesiologist authorized to administer sedation/anesthesia to high-risk patients.

Course Objectives:
Pre-anesthetic patient assessment, physical evaluation, pharmacology of sedative agents, appropriate sedation/anesthetic techniques, intra-operative monitoring, perioperative complications, records keeping along with recovery and discharge of medically compromised/high risk patients including but not limited to geriatrics, obese, special needs, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, endocrine disorders, genetic disorders, obstructive sleep apnea and other systemic conditions.
