Sedation Management of Pediatric Patients (Satisfies TSBDE RULE §110.17)
This hybrid continuing educational program consists of both on-line (8hrs) and class room didactics (8hrs) along with a strong hands on clinical component utilizing high fidelity manikins to simulate 15 cases. Enrollees will observe 7 pre-recorded cases on sedation of pediatric patients and complete 8 hands-on sedation cases of pediatric patients via moderate enteral route as the primary sedation provider. All of the cases (15) will be performed and documented under the on-site instruction and direct supervision of a dentist anesthesiologist authorized to administer sedation/anesthesia to pediatric patients.

Course Objectives:
Pre-anesthetic patient assessment, physical evaluation, physiology and anatomy of pediatric patients, pharmacology of sedative agents, appropriate pediatric sedation/anesthetic techniques, intra-operative monitoring, perioperative complications, records keeping along with proper recovery and discharge of pediatric patients defined as younger than 13 years of age.
