Behavior Management Techniques and Protective Stabilization in Pediatric & Special Needs Patients (Online)

This course will satisfy the Texas Sate Board Dental Examiners adopted new rule 108.14 regarding pediatric stabilization.

The new rule requires that a dentist who wishes to utilize pediatric stabilization obtain advanced training by either an accredited post-doctoral program or pediatric dentistry residency program that provides clinical and didactic education in advanced behavior management techniques or an extensive and focused continuing education course of no less than 8 hours in advanced behavior management that includes both didactic and clinical education pertaining to Protective Stabilization.

Course Objectives:

  • Scientific evidence will be discussed for indications and application of commonly used behavior guidance techniques

  • Review the objectives, indications, contraindications and precautions for the various modalities of protective stabilization

  • Gain an understanding for the application of basic and advanced behavior guidance modalities in the context of today’s parental and societal expectations and limitations

  • This lecture will also include a recorded hands-on demonstration of the proper use of stabilization devices
